Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao was in Islamabad for Pak-india dialogue with her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir.This is as we know a bilateral dialogue on the bureaucratic level here in the india and pakistan foreign secretary is a bureaucrat and not a politician as an elected member of parliament or the political government.If you have watched the
British television series yes minister and yes prime minister...you will probably be aware that I have no idea what they really talked about and why is the Pakistan's official looking so glad while the indian looking very pale after the last session and joint statement.But one thing is very clear that as soon as the indian official arrived in Islamabad the news of her appointment in Washington as the new Indian Ambassador came.Which means that this was her last big assignment in this post and she may not be assisting in the foreign Minister level talks in the near future or the next round of bureaucratic level dialogue as well.Obviously if she may be expecting a retirement or further extention of service in the same post and she got a new assignment altogether she must be a little worried and excited.Anyways lets wish her goodluck and pray that the next person does even better job in her post.
