The New class structure of Karachi Politics

The Biggest and most populated port city of Pakistan always had been divided into three classes. The upper class, the lower class and the middle class. In the Past few general elections MQM or the Mutahida Quomi Movement emerged as the main representative of  the Middle and lower class and was seen as working against the upper class and non urdu speaking lower class represented by Pakistan Peoples Party (ppp) or the pressure groups.
I don't want to go into the details but the forces that forced the two main opposing, almost belligerent  parties to work together and sit in the cabinet to form a coalition government may be working on a very different line now. In the absence of any reproducible evidence and election result data it is not possible to estimate the change that has come about in the political thinking of the people in the past four and a half years of democratic rule. The MQM's vote bank may have shifted from mainly middle class urdu speaking as the educated middle class is now the lower class in karachi but probably it has increased. The upper middle class and upper class is emerging as an elitist multiple nationality class looking hopefully towards the charismatic personality of  former cricketer and social worker Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf .

Peoples Party's strategy to walk in MQM's shoes has failed miserably to put a dent in the popularity of MQM infact it has made PTi and MQM more sympathetic towards eachother. I wont be surprised if they worked closely and helped eachother in the next election also to please the US and British western alliance that is openly supporting both.

NATO (GLOC):American Brat 1 - Uncle Sam Nil

Never mind that Barclay's lost a Diamond or two...
A lot has been going on in my mind right now so i do not believe it is logically possible to link the chain of thoughts in my mind and make sense enough for any Pakistani or US reader. As a very non serious student of law and human rights and slightly interested in international relations and the art and science of diplomacy what intrigues me is how decades of hard work by some of the brilliant minds of this century and the previous one and the theosophical intellects of the preceding era in the development of the UN charters ,the universal declaration of human rights ,Geneva convention and numerous other conventions and protocols often fails to hinder or block the one ugly mind set of the declaration of war and human rights violation which is "Everything is fair in love and war "
Americans are a very hard working nation they take their job very seriously.Everybody who works so hard deserves a vacation or holiday .Americans takes their holidays very seriously too. They plan how to spend it months before.Unlike the religious holidays which are celebrated in different parts of the world there are few holidays that are supposed to be celebrated by the Americans only  or the world celebrate them on different dates like the labor day, President's day , Memorial day and the Independence Day or the 4th of July.(All National holidays ).
Even if you are an undisputed American ally from the Nile region of the Middle East you might agree with me that United States of America through pentagon is at war with Afghanistan and the same United State of America through the state dept is clearly in love with Pakistan.
The Timely decision to re-open the NATO (GLOC) supply route through Pakistan seems like a premeditated act of affection and devotion without any proper negotiated agreement involving all the parties and the guarantors especially the NATO.It is unquestionably a complete embarrassment for the American diplomats in Pakistan and NATO partner countries. So Why Islamabad gave this wake up call to Washington on the eve of the 4th of July when most Suv's must have been loaded and ready to ride away....?

Clinton on her Call With Pakistani Foreign Minister Khar

Statement by Secretary Clinton on her Call With Pakistani Foreign Minister Khar

 Press Statement

Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
July 3, 2012

This morning, I spoke by telephone with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.
I once again reiterated our deepest regrets for the tragic incident in Salala last November. I offered our sincere condolences to the families of the Pakistani soldiers who lost their lives. Foreign Minister Khar and I acknowledged the mistakes that resulted in the loss of Pakistani military lives. We are sorry for the losses suffered by the Pakistani military. We are committed to working closely with Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent this from ever happening again.
As I told the former Prime Minister of Pakistan days after the Salala incident, America respects Pakistan’s sovereignty and is committed to working together in pursuit of shared objectives on the basis of mutual interests and mutual respect.
In today’s phone call, Foreign Minister Khar and I talked about the importance of taking coordinated action against terrorists who threaten Pakistan, the United States, and the region; of supporting Afghanistan’s security, stability, and efforts towards reconciliation; and of continuing to work together to advance the many other shared interests we have, from increasing trade and investment to strengthening our people-to-people ties. Our countries should have a relationship that is enduring, strategic, and carefully defined, and that enhances the security and prosperity of both our nations and the region.
The Foreign Minister and I were reminded that our troops – Pakistani and American – are in a fight against a common enemy. We are both sorry for losses suffered by both our countries in this fight against terrorists. We have enhanced our counter-terrorism cooperation against terrorists that threaten Pakistan and the United States, with the goal of defeating Al-Qaida in the region.
In addition, I am pleased that Foreign Minister Khar has informed me that the ground supply lines (GLOC) into Afghanistan are opening. Pakistan will continue not to charge any transit fee in the larger interest of peace and security in Afghanistan and the region. This is a tangible demonstration of Pakistan’s support for a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Afghanistan and our shared objectives in the region. This will also help the United States and ISAF conduct the planned drawdown at a much lower cost. This is critically important to the men and women who are fighting terrorism and extremism in Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Khar has informed me that, consistent with current practice, no lethal equipment will transit the GLOC into Afghanistan except for equipping the ANSF. In concluding the call, I reiterated our deep appreciation to the Government and the people of Pakistan for their many sacrifices and their critical contribution to the ongoing fight against terrorism and extremism.
